In The Kiln

Posted by: admin in Untagged  on

Truly I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the last farthing.     Matthew 5:26

The Lord is determined to make Believers "pure and holy and right". He does not allow us to escape the scrutiny of the Holy Spirit.  Under conviction, we are urged to come to judgemt right away, but often we do not. Then, the inevitable process begins to work and you find yourself in "prison", and we can only get out when we have paid the uttermost farthing.

"Is this a God of mercy and of love?" we say. Seen from God's side, it is a glorious ministry of love.  He is working to bring us out pure and spotless and undefiled; above all He must break the disposition of our "right to ourself".  When we are willing to alter that disposition, His re-creating forces begin to work.

God's purpose is to get us rightly related to Him and then to our fellow man.  we are not our own; we have been bought w/ a price.

One Nation Under God

Posted by: admin in Untagged  on

Independence Day, July 4, is important to Christians because America is the best hope of Liberty on the face of the earth.   Our republic was founded primarily by men who possessed faith in the Bible as God's Word.  Many of our Founders saw America as a new Israel being carved out of the wilderness.  If the people trusted the Lord He could bless them; if they turned from Him He could forsake their labors.

The US Senate Judiciary Committee, in 1853, said in a report: "We are a Christian people..., from choice and education; and in a land thus universally Christian, what is to be expected, what desired, but that we shall pay a due regard to Christianity?"  The SC Supreme Court ruled in 1849: "Christianity is part of the common law... the basis for morality, the foundation of principles of right and wrong."

Patrick Henry, who said, "Give me liberty or give me death" also stated, "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here."

Not all the people who founded and shaped early America were Christians or even Bible believers, but the vast majority were.  Their biblical views shaped the state constitutions, the Declaration of Independence ("inalienable rights", the "laws of nature and nature's God"), and the US Constitution w/ a Bill of Rights.  This is indisputable.

The United States had treaties w/ Indians and they at times spoke of their Great Spirit watching over their tribes.  The US signed a treaty under duress of extortion w/ the Barbary pirates where lip service was made to their religion as Musselmen or Mohommadans.  But nowhere can you find the American Gov't putting other religions on equal footing w/ the God of the Bible.  America has made its share of mistakes along the way but its adherence to the Bible, its foundation as a Republic, and its free market economic system succeeded in making it the greatest Nation ever to exist in human History.  These characteristics have enabled it to grant rights and freedoms for others from foreign shores as Patrick Henry stated.  Never has an Arabic or Far Eastern nation opened its doors to opportunities like those available here.  Our Faith and Culture alone has made thos oppotunities available.  That does not give them the right to subvert and undermine our cultural and spiritual foundations.  We as Americans, particularly as Christian Americans, must guard our rights and our power to vote in the face of those who would rob our future generations of the liberties and faith of our founding fathers we grew up with.

Faith's Patience

Posted by: admin in Untagged  on

Patience is more than endurance, Oswald Chambers said. A saint's life is in the hands of God like a bow and arrow in the hands of an archer. God is aiming at something the Believer cannot see, and He stretches and strains, and every now and again the Believer says-- "I cannot stand any more". God does not listen, He goes on stretching until His purpose is in sight, then He lets fly.

Trust yourself in God's Hands. Maintain our relationship w/ Christ Jesus by the patience of our faith.  Job said, Though He slay me, yet will I wait for Him.....

Passion of Patience

Posted by: admin in Untagged  on

Though it tarry, wait for it... Habakkuk2:3

Pateince, according to Oswal Chambers, is not indifference; patience is more like a strong rock withstanding all onslaughts.  The vision of god is the source of patience, as it imparts a moral inspiration.

Moses endured because he had a vision of God, not a sense of moral right or duty.  A vision of god makes us devoted to His Person not a Cause. The vision energizes us.

The proof that we have the vision is that we are reaching out for more than we have grasped. It is a bad thing to be satisfied spiritually.  Our reach must exceed our grasp.  If we have the inspiration of the vision of God, we have more than we can experience. Beware of the danger of relaxation spiritually.  "Not as though I have already attained, or were already perfect...." Paul says, "but pressing toward the mark....."

"Laborers Together w/ God" I Cor 3:9

Oswald Chambers reminds us.... We have no right to judge where we should be put for service, or to have preconceived notions as to what God is fitting us for.  God engineers everything; wherever He puts us our one great aim is to pour out a whole-hearted devotion to Him in that particular work.  "Whatsoever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might"...   See that you allow nothing to hinder your cooperation with Him.

Life's Cycle

Posted by: admin in Untagged  on

Last week, our church welcomed the birth of a baby girl to a new set of parents. We congratulate Terry & Christy Myers.  Then, we said "Good-Bye" for now to Shirley Thomas who went home to be with the Lord after a long bout w/ cancer.  She was courageous in the face of adversity and remained a faithful saint to the end of this existence.  May our Lord bless Fred and his family with the grace sufficient for this need.  And Saturday, our daughter, Brittany Nicole married Thomas Burton.  we ask you to pray for this young couple as they begin their lives together.

All of this in one week.  That is the cycle of life; one just as much a part as the other.  One lesson seems to be to enjoy all the time the Lord gives us here.  Love much, laugh often, live life to the fullest.  Understand that our days are numbered and sometimes troubled.  But the blessings outweigh the storms and valleys.  Thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord who makes eternal life possible in the finished work of Calvary.

God's Impartial Power

Posted by: admin in Untagged  on

Oswald Chambers reminds us today, "God is justified in saving bad men only as He makes them good.  Our Lord does not pretend we are all right when we are all wrong. The Atonement is a propitiation whereby God through the death [and resurrection] of Christ Jesus makes an unholy man holy."

This should be remembered as we stare into the face of this babe in a manger so familiar in Nativity scenes.  This child grew up to become our Savior willingly in obedience to the Father's will. Praise His name throughout the year...
